ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System

ISO 9001 is a Quality Management System Standard. It applies to all types of organizations. It doesn’t matter what size they are or what they do. It can help both product and service oriented organizations achieve standards of quality that are recognized and respected throughout the world.

ISO 14001:2004 Environment Management System

ISO 14001:2004 specifies requirements for an Environmental Management System to enable an organization to develop and implement a policy and objectives which take into account legal requirements and other requirements to which the organization subscribes, and information about significant environmental aspects. It applies to those environmental aspects that the organization identifies as those which it can control and those which it can influence. It does not itself state specific environmental performance criteria.

OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety

OHSAS stands for Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series. OHSAS 18001 is a consensus standard developed in 1999 by an independent group of national standards bodies and certification bodies (registrars).
OHSAS 18001 is structured the same way as ISO 14001, the environmental management system standard, and has essentially the same elements. It was specifically developed to be compatible with ISO 9001, the quality management system standard, and ISO 14001 to allow companies to develop and register integrated quality, environmental and occupational safety and health management systems.

Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point

Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) is a process control system designed to identify and prevent microbial and other hazards in food production.

HACCP enables the producers, processors, distributors, exporters, etc of food products to utilize technical resources efficiently and in a cost effective manner in assuring food safety. Food inspection too would be more systematic and therefore hassle-free. It would no doubt involve deployment of some additional finances initially but this would be more than compensated in the long run through consistently better quality and hence better prices and returns.

ISO 22000:2005 Food Safety Management Systems

ISO 22000 integrates the principles of the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) system and application steps developed by the Codex Alimentarius Commission. By means of auditable requirements, it combines the HACCP plan with prerequisite programmes. Hazard analysis is the key to an effective food safety management system, since conducting a hazard analysis assists in organizing the knowledge required to establish an effective combination of control measures. ISO 22000 requires that all hazards that may be reasonably expected to occur in the food chain, including hazards that may be associated with the type of process and facilities used, are identified and assessed. Thus it provides the means to determine and document why certain identified hazards need to be controlled by a particular organization and why others need not.

ISO 27001:2005 (BS 7799) Information Security Management System

An Information Security Management System (ISMS) provides a systematic approach to managing sensitive information in order to protect it. It encompasses employees, processes and information systems. The standard defines its ‘process approach’ as “The application of a system of processes within an organization, together with the identification and interactions of these processes, and their management”. It employs the PDCA, Plan-Do-Check-Act model to structure the processes Objective of ISO 27001.

Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)

Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) is a term that is recognized worldwide for the control and management of manufacturing, testing and overall quality control of food and pharmaceutical products.
GMP takes quality assurance approach, which ensures that products are consistently produced and controlled to the quality standards appropriate to their intended use and as required by the marketing authorization. GMP is aimed primarily at diminishing the risks inherent in any Pharmaceutical or Food production.

Social Accountability 8000 or SA 8000Certification

SA8000, or “Social Accountability 8000″, was developed to promote socially responsible business in all sectors around the globe. Rather than being a “sweatshop code” for customers to enforce upon their suppliers, SA8000 was developed to help socially responsible companies to measure and differentiate themselves from other companies operating with less than acceptable labor conditions. It sets out expectations regarding health and safety, child labor, forced labor, freedom of association, discrimination, disciplinary practices, working hours and compensation together with the management systems to deliver them. SA8000 covers all the major labor rights issues contained in International Labor Organization (ILO) conventions, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. It also acknowledges the importance of compliance with locally applicable laws.

ISO / TS 16949 Certification

The ISO/TS16949 is an international standard aiming to the development of a quality management system that provides for continual improvement, emphasizing defect prevention and the reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain. TS 16949 applies to the design/development, production and, when relevant, installation and servicing of automotive-related products. It is based on ISO 9001.The requirements are intended to be applied throughout the supply chain. For the first time vehicle assembly plants will be encouraged to seek ISO / TS 16949 certification.

ISO 13485 : 2003

ISO 13485:2003, based on the ISO 9001:2000 process model, suggests that the application and management of a system of processes is an effective way to ensure good quality management. All requirements of this International. Standard are specific to organizations providing medical devices, regardless of the type or size of the organization. The standard strongly infers that clients should consider using ISO 9000:2000 to ensure understanding of the Process Model, definitions and other items of concern, too.
